Vietnam PM Urges More Efforts to Cope with Smuggling ahead of Tet

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has requested agencies to strengthen control over increasing smuggling over borders as the Lunar New Year or Tet holiday is coming.
 
He ordered the agencies to further supervise vulnerable areas, including the Chinese border in Lang Son Province and the Cambodian border in Ha Tinh and Tay Ninh, and the Lao border in Quang Tri province.
 
The PM also called for more efforts to enhance inspection at the terminal, international seaports, railways and border lands in move to deal with the situation.
 
The market watchdogs were demanded speed up implementing the plans to deal with trade frauds, fake goods, speculation and price tags.
 
The government leader also assigned the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development and Health to keep a close eye on imported meats, vegetables, fruits and fast foods to ensure hygiene and safety. (www.chinhphu.vn, VNS)
