Vietnam Eyes $13B from Apparel Exports in 2011
Vietnamese garment and textile industry expects to raise its export revenues to between $12.7 billion and $13 billion next year, said Vu Duc Giang, chairman of the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex).
The figures will be between $18 billion and $20 billion in 2015, according to Mr. Giang.
To realize the aim, domestic companies will strive to sell end-products designed by their own, instead of doing outwork for foreign companies, and give priority to high-quality products.
They will also strive to expand market shares in traditional and major markets while looking for potential markets in Asia and Africa.
The textile and garment industry is among the country's top foreign currency earners, contributing about one fifth of Vietnam's total export turnover every year.
The industry brought in $11.172 billion from garment and textile exports in 2010. (The People)
