On February 24, 2011, the Ministry of Finance decided to allow oil traders to hike gasoline retail prices in a bid to ease losses incurred by oil traders.

Domestic retail prices of petrol rise by VND2,900/litre to VND19.300/litre from VND16,400 while prices of diesel rise by VND3,550/litre to VND18,300/litre from VND14,750, kerosene from VND15,100/litre to VND18,200/litre and fuel oil from VND12,690 to VND14,800 per kilo.

The rise in gasoline prices came after the Government’s Resolution 11/NQ-CP dated February 23, 2011 on major measures to control inflation, stabilise macro economy and ensure social security.

Oil traders will stop using funds from the Gasoline Price Stabilisation Fund previously allowed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
