Vietnam’s CPI rises by 2.09% in February

The General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) has announced that the consumer price index (CPI) rises by 2.09% in February against January, 2011.
 
The group of postal services is the only one in 11 groups of commodities to register a decline of 0.01%.
 
The price of the food and catering services registers the highest increase of 3.65%, of which the price of foodstuff rises by 4.53%. The price of the group of beverage and cigarette sees the second highest increase of 2.14%.
 
The US dollar appreciates by 0.94% as compared to the previous month. On the contrary, the price of gold is down by 0.35%.
 
Over the past ten years, 8 years underwent the CPI rise of over 2% in February with CPI rise of February 2011 being registered as the lowest hike. (SBV)
