Second Container Scanner System Inaugurated in Vietnam
The Government of Japan and the Government of Vietnam have just inaugurated a modern container scanner system in northern Hai Phong Port.
This is the second X-ray scanner system in Vietnam after the first one in Cat Lai Port, Ho Chi Minh City.
Head of the General Department of Customs Nguyen Ngoc Tuc said the 861-million yen (around US$8.78 million) system was funded by the Japanese government through a non-refundable aid for a project to enhance customs management. After 18 months of construction, the entire system has been completed.
Mr Nguyen Tien Loc, Director of the Customs Department of Hai Phong City, stressed: As authorised operator of the system, the Hai Phong Customs Department pledged to manage and operate it effectively to meet expectations of the Japanese side as well as customs management requirements from Vietnam.
The success of this project helps strengthen the cooperation of Vietnamese and Japanese customs sectors and facilitate and modernise trade ties for the mutual development and prosperity.
