A workshop on Gender Mainstreaming in Legal and Judicial Programmes and Projects has recently organised in Hanoi as part of the project activities of the first component of the Justice Partnership Programme (JPP) funded by the European Union, Denmark and Sweden. This component is managed by the British Council.

Gilles Blanchi, Capacity Development Expert and Team Leader of the Residential Technical Assistance Team, said: “Gender equality mainstreaming is a cross-cutting and priority theme of the JPP. This workshop was organised with the aim of jointly contributing to building the capacity of the institutions’ personnel to incorporate in their annual work plan activities to promote gender equality and to establish mechanisms to monitor results of each institution’s Capacity Development Strategy in terms of opportunities for women as well as initiatives to promote access to justice and the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy’s services for the public at large.

Started in 2010, the JPP will run until June 2015. It has the budget of 18.7 million Euros jointly contributed by the European Commission, Denmark and Sweden, which makes it the largest among donors-funded projects in judicial reform support in Vietnam.
