Chu Lai Open Economic Zone Attracts more Projects
The Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in the central province of Quang Nam marked its first anniversary on Sunday with 103 projects capitalized at 1.22 billion USD.
The executive board took the opportunity to launch another eight projects, including a high-tech complex and two resettlement zones for residents displaced by the surrounding projects.
The Chu Lai open economic zone has granted an investment license to a project producing electronic appliances with an initial investment of 4 million USD. With a total investment of over 10 million USD, the electronics maker emerges as the first in the zone to deal with Taiwanese electronics giants to produce high-tech equipment. The project, covering 80,000 sq.m, plans to produce over 80 percent of the parts at home and provide jobs for 1,200 locals once it is completed.
Of the 103 projects having registered for operation, 34 have been put into operation and 54 others received licences for operation.
The Chu Lai open economic zone was licensed by the Prime Minister for operation on July 25, 2003.
