New Flights to HCM City on Offer
The US airline firm, United Airlines, will begin a daily service between San Francisco and HCM City via Hong Kong on December 9. The first flight will arrive in HCM City on December 10 to mark the third anniversary of the Vietnam-US Bilateral Trade Agreement.
The United Viet Company Ltd., United’s ticket sales agency for Vietnam, will start selling tickets on August 2. Reservations for the new daily service can be made at the agency, which plans to open two new offices in HCM City and Hanoi. United will operate a combined passenger and cargo service using a Boeing 747-400 aircraft fitted with 347 seats.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) expects Vietnam’s aviation industry to grow by 10.5 per cent each year for the next 10 years. Between 1985-1999, it grew by only 29.5 per cent.
The opening of the new route demonstrates that Vietnam has the potential to become a significant trading partner and market for US goods and services.
