Protecting the Rights and Interests of Enterprises

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association signed a cooperation agreement in Hanoi on August 11 to promote the role of representing, protecting and supporting the business community and boost cooperation between the two sides.

Within their cooperation framework, VCCI and the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association will boost cooperation in four major fields. In the short term, the two sides will cooperate in contributing inputs and comments in law building. As well as collaboration in organising meetings between enterprises, business associations, and members of the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association, and State management agencies, relating to enterprises and their business environment, the two sides will cooperate in proposing legal initiatives and policy suggestions. The Vietnam Lawyers’ Association will help VCCI in educating and promulgating the law, training and consulting services. VCCI, in turn, will assist the association in protecting the rights and interests of Vietnamese enterprises in Vietnam and foreign countries. The two sides agreed to set up a legal consulting council for enterprises and to promote their support for the business communities. They also committed to exchange information regularly about legal issues relating to enterprises and the legal business environment.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Vu Tien Loc, President of VCCI, admitted that VCCI’s help to Vietnamese enterprises in legal issues remained limited. Loc said he hoped that the signing of the cooperation agreement would help the building and education of law, and the protection of enterprises’ rights and interests.

At the ceremony, Pham Quoc Anh, Chairman of the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association, reiterated his belief in the cooperation between the two sides, affirming that the association would strive in a common task of creating a more open and equal business environment for enterprises.
