Enterprise Evaluation in Equitisation

On July 16, 2004, VCCI, in coordination with the Enterprise Finance Department (Finance Ministry) and related organisations, organised a workshop in Hanoi on "Enterprise Evaluation in Equitisation" to help enterprises through the equitisation process.

According to the 2003 plan, 867 enterprises were to be equitised. However, in reality only 537 enterprises underwent the process. One of the major hurdles is the evaluation of the enterprises. An official of the Ministry of Finance attributed the failure to evaluations by the company evaluation council. Many corporations and enterprises have also voiced their concerns on the evaluation of trademarks and commercial advantages. In some cases, the cost of shares were to high and investors refused to contribute their capital.

The workshop has focused on the government policy on equitisation, defining the enterprise value by current regulations and introducing methods of enterprise evaluation. The participants have also discussed the practical evaluation by the enterprises prior to the equitisation.
