Presentation on Doing Business in Taiwan and Japan

A presentation on 'doing business in Taiwan and Japan' was held at the office of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on June 30 by VCCI in cooperation with JCI. About 100 enterprises representing business associations and private enterprises attended the presentation.

The lecturer at the presentation was Nakao Shinya, a development expert of the Asia-Pacific Development Council of Junior Chamber International (JCI). Shinya owns a toy company in Japan and has great experience in doing business in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Meanwhile, presenting the Taiwanese market, Jeffrey Chu, a member of the Asia-Pacific Development Council of JCI, owns a gift and software company in Taiwan. His company is a partner of Microsoft. Addressing the presentation, the vice chairman of VCCI, Hoang Van Dung, said that he highly appreciated the two markets and Vietnam's potential to cooperate them. Mr. Dung went on to say that Vietnam was on the development path with about 200,000 companies, 150,000 of which are run by young entrepreneurs. He said that the development of a country needs contribution from its young entrepreneurs and Vietnam wished to learn from the experiences of enterprises in Taiwan and Japan.

At the presentation, Mr. Shinya and Mr. Chu introduced the potential of the Taiwanese and Japanese markets, and the goods of Vietnam that could be exported to the two markets. They also introduced JCI. Mr Shinya said that JCI was a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs. It was set up in 1915 and its members are aged between 18 and 40 years. JCI now has 6,000 members in more than 100 countries in the world. Its main target is to provide leadership and business skills training.
The two lecturers said that Vietnam should promote its reform of administrative procedures, especially in banking, customs, services and the Enterprise Law. Vietnam should also provide more support for young entrepreneurs.
