Dutch Businesses Eye Investment in Mekong Delta

A delegation of Dutch businesspeople operating in the fields of consultancy, technical design, agriculture, water management, cattle-feed, quality management and education came to Can Tho City on March 6 to seek for investment in this city and other provinces in the Mekong Delta.
 
With potential in geographic features and economic conditions, businesses in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta showed their eagerness to establish trade cooperation with these Dutch businesses.
 
Vietnam and the Netherlands established its diplomatic relations on April 9, 1973.
 
Vietnam mainly exports seafood, footwear, garment, coffee, rice and peppercorn and imports machines, medical equipments, chemical, metal, plastic, cattle-feed and milk from the Netherlands.
 
In 2010, Vietnam’s export value to the Netherlands reached US $1.68 billion and its imports were valued at US$527 million.
 
Currently, the Netherlands is investing in more than 130 projects in Vietnam with a total capital of US $5.7 billion, focusing on food, oil and gas exploitation and exploration, petrochemistry, cosmetics, hotel business, offices and construction.
