Defining consultation as the company’s strength, since the beginning of its transition into privatization, Lang Son Transport Construction and Consultancy JSC has paid attention to building a highly qualified team to quickly meet growing demand in this field.
Human making up success
The company changed from a state enterprise to a privatized one in 2009, which brought favourable conditions, but also difficulties. CEO cum Director Mr Nguyen Dinh Dai shared: “Our advantages are brand and long lasting reputation. However, challenges come from staff training levels.”
To go through the hard time, when privatizing, the company adjusted the whole organization, procedures and regulations for the new context. At the same time, the company both oriented its staff and selected qualified ones.
Thus, at that time, 15 percent of its staff, 10 people, were laid off. It then recruited new employees with more modern and professional working style, higher knowledge and qualification and better acumen. “However, we have always tried to make selection in the most reasonable manner. Experienced and potential people are still retained and assigned to a more appropriate division. It is always our staff that makes success. It is necessary to provide training for those who haven’t met requirements or move them to the right place where they can operate at their best instead of just laying them off,” stated Mr Dai.
The address of qualified staff
So far, the company has been highly appreciated by the province for training and providing personnel for the transport sector in particular and for the province in general. Prior to being assigned to a division in the sector, staff members are usually consulted. Since not all new graduates can work smoothly, this is the place for them to sharpen their skills and get familiar with the corporate environment. Many key position-holders in the sector’s other divisions and heads of provincial departments began their path here. “Knowledge is build with experience. Thanks to their knowledge, experience and talent, those working here were appreciated and moved to higher positions to serve the community, on which we pride ourselves. This is also the factor that helps our brand shine.”
Until now, the company has always had policy of human resources training for all workers. Employees will work at the level corresponding to their qualification. Given the motto “Building brand with intelligence”, seminars are regularly organized, especially those involved in experience sharing between senior and new staff, through which the former will give detailed instructions to the latter on what they haven’t been clear about. Controversial topics and issues will be discussed for solutions. As a result, not only our staff but also “trainees”, upon their completion and assignment in sectors, do their work well.
At present, the company has maintained and promoted its traditional strengths, which are provisions of service and intellectual products. Despite the hard economic context of 2011 with great impacts on the construction sector, the company still beat its set targets and ensured stable operation. The company has kept its position at the top of the transport sector, as well as others in personnel recruitment. Of extreme importance, the company has ensured a good standard of living for nearly 100 staff, which not all enterprises can do in the current fierce competition.
