Phu Son Livestock Joint Stock Company was set up in 1976 with the initial function of rearing pigs and went public in 2005. Despite difficulties and challenges arising from economic turmoil, all members of the company are always determined to move forward to build and develop the trusted Phu Son brand name on the market.
In the past years, the livestock husbandry and pig consumption in Dong Nai province faced a lot of difficulties and lacked mapped development planning. This directly impacted production plans of Phu Son Livestock Joint Stock Company. However, despite economic downturn, the company has actively built its development strategy and proactively applied scientific and technological solutions to animal husbandry to increase productivity. From these efforts, the company’s growth quality is steadied and revenues increase annually. Hence, its employees’ incomes are guaranteed and their living conditions are improved. Apart from wages, employees enjoy all rights and interests stipulated in the Labour Code.

Starting from a very small scale, the company now runs four livestock farms: Phu Son pig farm in Trang Bom district, Dong Phuong pig farm in Bien Hoa City, Long Thanh pig farm and Phu Son chicken farm in (Long Thanh district). Phu Son Livestock Joint Stock Company now has 35,000 pigs. Breeding pigs are imported from countries with advanced livestock industries like the United States, Australia and Denmark. By strictly complying with quality, disease prevention and ISO standard regulations, Phu Son always ensures that all products are safe and quality to consumers. Compared with the lean pork content of 64 percent in developed countries, the rate of 60 - 62 percent is proud.

For fee safe, disease-free and high-quality hogs, all aspects from nutrition and management to veterinary are strictly applied and rationalised to match actual conditions. Particularly, staffed by highly qualified technicians and experts graduated from livestock, veterinary and management schools, pig husbandry always meets quality requirements. In addition, the company manufactures feeds for pigs to ensure highest quality, growth and health.

Revealing difficulties Phu Son encountered when pork is found to contain banned substance harmful to human health and consumers turned their back on pork, Director Le Van Me said Dong Nai province has the largest pig herd with nearlh1.2 million heads. Each month, the province supplies 16,000 tonnes for the market, of which 60 percent are for Ho Chi Minh City and some neighbouring provinces. Therefore, the information about the use of banned substances in pig rearing unnerved consumers inside and outside the province. In fact, only a small number of farmers used banned substances. Big facilities like Phu Son did not need to use prohibited lean-generating substances. And, Phu Son impossibly stains its brand name and image built up over the past 45 years with such immoral acts.
