Most Outstanding Garment Firms in 2004 Selected

Eighteen garment and textile enterprises from all economic sectors have recently voted the most outstanding enterprises of Vietnam’s garment and textile industry. The recognisation is considered a new development momentum for such enterprises.

The honourable firms are affiliates of the Vietnam Garment and Textile Corporation, including Viet Tien, Phuong Dong, Nha Be, May 10, Thanh Cong Textile, and Thang Loi, and private, foreign-invested, and joint stock enterprises such as Phuoc Thinh Textile, Son Kim Fashion, Han-Soll Vina, and Coast Phong Phu. Especially, Viet Tien Garment Company was selected the most successful enterprise of Vietnam’s garment industry in 2004.

The country’s garment industry has recorded impressive results in recent years. In 2001-2003, the fibre production doubled, cloth production up 50 per cent, and production of ready-made products up 70 per cent, and foreign markets, particularly the US, have been expanded. The garment export value reached around US$3 billion in the first eight months of 2004 and is expected at US$4.2 billion in the whole year, properly meeting the government’s target of US$4-4.5 billion in export value for 2005.
