Stepping up Mercury-Discharged Pollution Control in Vietnam
The Vietnam Environment Administration recently collaborated with the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) to organise a meeting in Hanoi to exchange and share information within the framework of the implementation of mercury pollution control under the Minamata Convention on Mercury.
Based on the experience of countries in the world, chemical emissions control is an effective way to control environmental pollution. However, this approach is relatively new to Vietnam. Hence, the Vietnam Environment Administration, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment are well aware of the problem and working closely with the relevant organisations to promote chemicals pollution control. At the meeting, participants discussed mercury emissions control in the environment.
