Stepping up Green Growth Research in Mekong Region
Mr Nguyen Thai Lai, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment recently hosted a meeting with the delegation of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in Hanoi. The two parties exchanged views on the fields of water resources and green growth, the connection between the two factors in the development in the Mekong region.
Green growth towards low-carbon economy and natural richness has become key trend in the sustainable development of Vietnam economy. Orientation towards green growth and green economy has been specified by the Prime Minister through the national strategy for green growth in the period 2011 - 2020 and towards 2050. This is an important basis for Vietnam to gradually transform the fields of economy, protect environment including water security.
GGGI was established a year ago. Currently, the institute is proposing the study on the connection between water resources and green growth in the Mekong region.
