Popularising VietGap Standard in Aquaculture
To help stakeholders to learn, share, cooperate and promote VietGAP application to aquaculture, the Directorate of Fisheries and the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) in collaboration with Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam Company to organise a workshop on cooperation and market connectivity for VietGAP-certified products."
The workshop attracted over 100 delegates from central and local fisheries authorities and fisheries companies.
Speaking at the event, Mr Philippe Bacac, General Director of Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam, said although VietGAP standards in Vietnam are in the stage of development, they are believed to be applied widely soon in aquaculture. He said VietGAP not only helps Vietnam develop sustainable aquaculture and ensure productivity and output but also ensures food quality and safety.
According to the Directorate of Fisheries, the biggest difficulty in deploying VietGAP is now to perceptions and practices of producers and consumers. Hence, to be successful, this process requires the participation of institutions and individuals in the society.
