Focusing on Environmental Protection in Industrial Zones
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment recently held a workshop on the “Implementation of the Government’s Resolution 35/NQ - CP dated March 18, 2013 on a number of pressing issues of environmental protection” in Hanoi.
Many hot environmental issues were presented at this workshop. The non-synchronous development of industrial zones has resulted in serious environmental pollution because of poorly equipped wastewater treatment facilities. The lax management over mining activities has allowed environmental pollution in many extractive sites. Solid wastes and medical wastes are not collected and treated thoroughly; potable water and industrial water are untreated; the weak control of gas emissions and dusts discharged from transportation vehicles, construction sites and manufacturing facilities has caused serious environmental pollution in large cities and river basins.
In the coming time, environmental protection will be enhanced in industrial zones and mining sites. The quality of environmental assessment will be raised for development plans and strategies. Environmental pollution in the countryside and cottage industry villages will be mitigated.
