Vietnam Runs US$18 Billion Trade Surplus with US
Vietnam earned US$23.557 billion from exports to the United States - the largest export market of the country - and spent US$5.206 billion on imports from the US in the first 10 months of 2014, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. As a result, Vietnam took a trade surplus of US$18.351 billion.
Compared with a year ago, Vietnam’s exports to the US earned additional US$4.107 billion (compared with US$19.45 billion in the first 10 months of 2013).
Garment - textile remained the biggest export of Vietnam to the US with US$8.166 billion in the reporting period, followed by footwear (US$2.68 billion), woodwork (US$1.826 billion), computers and electronics products (US$1.642 billion), seafood (US$1.431 billion), telephones (US$1.104 billion), and machinery and equipment (US$1.054 billion).
