Specific Mechanisms for Six Power Plants Drafted

The Government has assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to draft a special mechanism for six power plants in Vietnam. These power plants are big in scale and important to national economy, defence and social security.
 
The six plants include 2,400-MW Son La hydropower plant, 1,920-MW Hoa Binh hydropower plant, 1,200-MW Lai Chau hydropower plant, 720-MW Ialy hydropower plant, 400-MW Tri An hydropower plant, and 342-MW Tuyen Quang hydropower plant.
 
Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is responsible for coordinating with relevant ministries and branches to draft, promulgate or submit electricity pricing mechanisms, special operation and market entry mechanisms of large important power plants to competent authorities for promulgation. The Electricity of Vietnam Group will study and propose the organisational production management model for large power plants.
Investors or management units that operate large power plants must be responsible for building operational safety plans according to current regulations in order to ensure security and safety of power plants, timely prevent and respond to incidents that may occur and affect national defence and security.
 
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is answerable for reviewing and assessing power plants to propose the Prime Minister for adding them the list of large power plants with particularly important implications on economy, society, defence and security.
