Manchester Trade Mission Visits Vietnam
The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) and Chamber Link International Trade Center will send a trade delegation to Vietnam today for a five-day visit to explore potential business opportunities.
This is the sixth visit Manchester has organised to Vietnam since 1997. The delegation will include representatives of British companies operating in the oil and gas, textile and computing industries.
Vanessa Bryan, the Asia Pacific manager of the International Trade Center in Manchester said: "Our previous visits to Vietnam have been successful in forging strong links between Vietnamese and UK businesses and we consider Vietnam an important partner in the global economy".
During the visit, Vanessa will attend meetings at the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ho Chi Minh City Trade & Investment Promotion Center and other institutions to talk about business opportunities and the potential for developing specific initiatives.
Trade between Vietnam and the UK has increased substantially in the last few years. Vietnam's exports to the UK rose 34 per cent to more than USUS$1 billion last year, according to the Ministry of Trade.
At the end of last year, the UK was the 12th largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with 62 investment projects capitalized at over USUS$1.2 billion. There are currently over 200 British companies and organizations operating in Vietnam.
