Local Firm Wants to Stay Longer with Ruby, Sapphire Exploration Project

The Ministry of Industry has asked the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment to extend the license it has granted the Hanoi Gemstone & Gold Co. to explore ruby and sapphire deposits in the Quy Chau District in the central province of Nghe An.

Hanoi Gemstone & Gold Co. under the Vietnam Mineral Corp. received a license on April 22, 2002 to explore ruby and sapphire on an area of 9.9 hectares at the Doi Ty - Khe Met Mine in Quy Chau. The license has a lifespan of two years.

On January 26, 2005, the company sent a document to the Ministry of Industry, asking to have the license extended by 20 more months.
