Import Liberalisation Benefits Economy

Hanoi International Economic-Cultural Exchange club has recently sponsored a meeting between Vietnamese business associations and Mr Anton F. Boerner, President of the Federation of German Wholesale and Foreign Trade (BGA).

Mr Boerner referred to commercial aspects of WTO admission and business opportunities between Germany and Vietnam. He said that the import liberalisation would benefit Vietnamese economy as foreign investors cannot import directly commodities to Vietnam but through Vietnamese importers.

Established in 1916 and re-established in 1949, BGA is currently a leading organisation on wholesale, foreign trade and service in Germany. It has 28 employer associations and 120,000 companies.

Germany and Vietnam have vigorously promoted bilateral economic relations as well as direct exchanges of business missions. On April 5, a business mission from Brandenberg with over 20 companies will introduce their products at a seminar held in Hotel Hilton Hanoi.
