Vinh Phuc Promoting Logistics Service Development

Vinh Phuc province, located in the northern key economic region, has a favorable geographical position. In addition to being adjacent to Noi Bai International Airport, the province lies on National Highway 2, Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway, National Highway 5 that links to Haiphong Port and Road 18 that leads to Cai Lan Port. At the same time, it is a leading industrial driver in the country. These major advantages enable Vinh Phuc to foster logistics service development.

In order to meet freight transport demand and develop logistics services, in recent years, the Provincial People’s Committee has issued a decision approving the plan for railway-based cargo transportation and inland port development for industrial zones and a decision approving the Vinh Phuc trade development plan to 2020, with an eye to 2030. Accordingly, the province has planned to build a large-scale wholesale center together with a 180-200-ha inland clearance depot (ICD) in Binh Xuyen district. At the same time, Huong Canh Railway Station was relocated to a new location adjacent to the ICD to meet freight transport needs on Hanoi - Lao Cai Expressway and the ICD. Specifically, in the first phase from 2015 to 2020, the province has planned to construct the new Huong Canh Railway Station at km 45+400 to replace the existing one. Vinh Phuc has also built an ICD for freight stevedoring and customs clearance for goods transported between the railway station with the ICD, three warehouses, two yards for inland transport, four yards for containers transshipped between the railway station and the ICD, five warehouses and eight yards for freight stevedoring and customs clearance for imports and exports, the internal traffic route that links trunk roads inside industrial parks and service facilities in the ICD. After 2020, the ICD will be expanded and the railway will be constructed with a standard guage of 1.435 meters.

T&T Group and YCH Group of Singapore recently studied investment cooperation in the ICD Logistics Center. YCH Group, which is strong at logistics services and supply chains, wants to invest to build the ICD Logistics Center in Vinh Phuc to bring goods directly to consumers and develop human resources for Vinh Phuc and neighboring provinces. With the cooperation of the partner, T&T Group, and the support of the provincial government, YCH Group will soon implement this project in order to serve local industrial parks.

In the future, the operation of the ICD Logistics Center will create favorable conditions for logistics services development, meet the freight transport demand of local enterprises and boost local socioeconomic development in the time to come.
