Motorcycle Output Jumps 15.9 per cent in First Half 

 

Vietnam’s motorbike output is estimated to soar 15.9 per cent to 869,255 units in the first half of this year, according to the government's General Statistics Office (GSO).

 

In June, motorbike production companies are forecast to manufacture 154,583 units, up 12 per cent on-year and 6.1 per cent on-month.

 

Foreign-invested firms still dominate the country's motorbike industry with a combined assembly of over 604,473 units in the whole period (up 7.8 per cent on year) and 102,600 units in June (up 0.5 per cent on year). The private sector manufactures 233,808 units (up 50 per cent) and 43,256 units (up 40 per cent) and the state-owned sector makes 30,974 units (down 6.7 per cent) and 8,727 units (down up 71 per cent), respectively.

 

In May, the foreign-invested, private and state-owned sectors turned out 95,630 units, 41,771 units and 8,313 units, respectively, totaling 145,704 units.

 

Vietnam now has eight foreign-invested operational motorbike production joint ventures and about 45 local motorbike makers, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
