Lilama to Build Vietnam's Biggest Thermo-Power Plant in 2006

The Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) will build the Vung Ang 1,200MW thermal power plant, the biggest of its kind in Vietnam, at the total cost of US$1.2 billion in the central Ha Tinh province’s in Ky Anh district, State media reported.
 
Once completed, the two-turbine plant is set to supply 7.2 billion kWh for the national power grid. The first turbine is expected to be kicked off this June and completed in 2010, according to a Lilama official.
 
Located next to the deep seaport of Vung Ang and the national high-voltage transmission system, the plant will receive many advantages in transporting coal and power transmission, helping supply a remarkable power output to the Vung Ang Industrial Zone and develop national power sources, according to Minister of Construction official.
