Vietnam to Receive Two Boeing 787 in 2009
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will receive two of the first Boeing 787 Dreamliners from the US aircraft maker Boeing in 2009, said a Boeing official yesterday.
Vietnam Airlines signed a contract to purchase four Boeing 787s in 2004.
The two remaining aircrafts are set to be delivered to Vietnam Airlines in 2010, the official said.
The official also revealed that Vietnam Airlines may rent additional wide-bodied aircraft from Boeing, adding that the carrier now has big demand for large aircraft as it wants to expand to markets in Europe and North America.
Currently, Vietnam Airlines is operating 10 Boeing 777s with six rented from Boeing, one 767 and four 747s.
The carrier now flies to 16 domestic and 27 international destinations.
