Govvvt Advances Money for Purchases of Cars for APEC 2006
The Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai has ordered the government’s budgetary agency to advance VND23.9 billion (US$1.51 million) for the Materials-Logistics Department to buy cars for APEC 2006 meetings, according to the Government Office.
The Government Office said the money drawn from the State Budget Estimation Fund for 2006 will be used to buy 32 Ford Mondeo 2.5L sedans for international events related to the APEC 2006 Meeting.
Ford Mondeo sedans, which cost US$52,900 each, will serve minister-ranking officials at the largest international event in Vietnam in 2006.
According to a close source, cars for heads of state at the APEC Vietnam 2006 Summit will be imported and Ford Vietnam is also named the car-importing consultant.
