Big Campaign against Crime Started for Safety of APEC Summit
Vietnamese police has started a nationwide campaign against criminals from March 16 to ensure social order and absolute security during the 10th National Party Congress and the 14th APEC Economic Leaders' Conference, both scheduled for 2006.
Previously, General Le Hong Anh, Minister of Police sent an official letter to the ministry's general bureaus and provincial police departments nationwide, asking them to utilize all forces and means to take strict measures against criminals in order to ensure social order and security throughout the country.
In Hanoi, the main venue among a number of localities hosting APEC conferences in Vietnam and the destination for party cell representatives from all over the country during the national congress, is reported to kick off the campaign with great efforts and determination.
The national Party’s gathering, which will release the guideline for the country’s growth in the next five year, is the most important political event in the country this year while the APEC conferences, which have already begun and will last all year long with a summit in November, is the biggest event of external relation for the communist nation.
For recent some years, Vietnam has been recognized as the most safe destination in Asia. Political stability and the fast economic growth rate of the communist nation have won the confidence of international communities regardless of sabotaging plots from hostile forces overseas.
