A delegation of German companies will visit Hanoi and HCM City from March 26-30 to seek business opportunities in Vietnam, marking the second business delegation from the European nation touring Vietnam since the beginning of this year.

The delegation will meet with Vietnamese firms in Hanoi on March 27 and in HCM City on March 29. A workshop on opportunities to cooperate with German firms will also be held in Hanoi. The visit is paid on the occasion of the sixth Vietnam-Germany Dialogue Forum to be opened in Hanoi on March 27.

Last month a delegation of 20 German companies from Mecklenburg-Vorpommen arrived in Hanoi to meet with 60 Vietnamese firms to seek investment opportunities in shipbuilding, food processing, construction, transport, and IT in the country.

As of Feb 24 this year Germany ranked 19th among foreign direct investors in Vietnam, with total capital of about US$300 million. However, the figure excluded German investment into Vietnam through third-country partners such as the Netherlands and Singapore.

Germany is now also an important market for Vietnam. It exports to Vietnam equipment and machinery, materials, silks, steel products, chemicals, and electronic goods, and imports garments, footwear products, agricultural products, computers, and handicraft and fine art from Vietnam.
