Vietcombank Clinches Deal with Microsoft
The Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) recently signed an agreement with Microsoft to buy 4,000 licensing rights to Microsoft's Office 2003 software.
Under the deal, Vietcombank will also be allowed to use updates of new versions which Microsoft will introduce within next three years.
Additionally, Vietcombank’s staff can legally use Office 2003 at their homes.
The deal, signed by FPT Information System (FIS), Microsoft's authorized dealer in Vietnam, is similar to an earlier agreement inked between the Ministry of Finance and Microsoft during Microsoft President Bill Gates's visit to Vietnam in April of this year.
Vietcombank CEO Vu Viet Ngoan said the agreement proves support of the bank to the government's ongoing efforts in building a healthy investment environment by fighting against software piracy.
