All food production, processing and trading establishments in Hanoi selected to serve the incoming APEC meeting will ensure safety and hygiene standards, affirmed Le Anh Tuan, director of the municipal Health Department.

Tuan added that Hanoi reported no fatality relating to food poisoning over the past five years.

As planned, local relevant authorities will inspect all selected food units in Hanoi from October 25, he said while asserting that health provision officials will be on their duty all day long to supervise and ensure food safety and hygiene during the special Asian-Pacific meetings.

In the next five years, the municipal Steering Committee for Food Safety and Hygiene has targeted 80 per cent of food traders, 80 per cent of consumers, 90 per cent of food producers and all food managers will acquire proper knowledge about food safety and hygiene standards.

In other news, relevant authorities in Hanoi have recently conducted an inspection on water at some local hotels chosen to serve the incoming APEC meeting to ensure the water quality for the special event.
