About 1,000 foreign journalists will come to Vietnam to report the country’s most significant event this year, the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit meeting slated for November 12-19, a source from Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ press committee has said.

So far all the giant news agencies in the world have registered for their reporters’ performance in Vietnam to cover the event, the source added.

A high-ranking delegation of the US is the largest delegation to attend the event with up to 950 senior officials, businesspeople and security forces led by President George W Bush.

Accompanying President Bush are US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice and CEOs of Boeing, Citigroup, Fedex, Microsoft, GE, Ford Motor, Chevron, Cocono Phillip, Motorola, Nike, AIG, Oracle.

On this occasion, the US’s representatives from CNN, the Times, and Fortune magazine will come also.

A liaison of APEC-US Business 2006 headed by Virginia Foote, president of the Vietnam-US Trade Council and Vice Director of the ASEAN-US Business Council was set up to sponsor the APEC’s CEO summit meetings and the Vietnam-US business forum and other contacts between leaders of 21 APEC member economies with US entrepreneurs.
