Vietnam-Spain Bilateral Trade to Surpass US$900Mln
Vietnam-Spain two-way trade will exceed US$900 million this year, Madam Soledad Fuentes Gomez affirmed on the occasion of the National Day of Spain held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 16. The ambassador said Spain and Vietnam will continue to strengthen bilateral relations and economic cooperation. The two-way trade will increase 20 per cent this year to US$915 million from US$766 million in 2005. However, she said this growth is still low in comparison with the potentiality of the two countries.
At present, Spain is the eighth largest economy in the world and the seventh largest trade partner of Vietnam in the EU. Vietnam’s main exports to Spain are footwear, apparels woodworks, seafood and coffee. Recently, eight Spanish companies in the field of techniques, electronics, coffee, seafood, leather and footwear opened representative offices in Vietnam.
