Vietnam will continue to witness a boom in economy next year with a growth rate of 7.6 per cent, forecast the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its latest annual report on the global economy released recently.

The IMF’s report says that Vietnam will attain this rate in 2007 despite challenges.

Vietnam will continue to be an attractive destination for foreign investors due to the country’s fast-growing economy, sharply-reduced poverty rate and its pledge to improve the market-economy mechanism, the fund said.

In the annual review of the Vietnamese economy recently, IMF also forecast that Vietnam will likely enjoy an economic growth rate of 7.8 per cent in 2006.

Earlier, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) projected the Vietnamese economy would grow 8 per cent in 2007, meanwhile the Standard Chartered Bank forecast a higher rate, at 8.8 per cent next year.
