Nine Exports Bag over US$1Bln in Value Each This Year
The number of Vietnam’s largest export earners reporting revenue of over US$1 billion each is estimated to rise to nine this year, according to the Ministry of Trade (MoT).
Crude oil still remains the biggest cash earner with US$8.32 billion, followed by garments and textiles, US$5.8 billion, footwear US$3.55 billion, seafood US$3.36 billion, woodwork products US$1.94 billion, electronic and computer parts, US$1.77 billion, rice, US$1.3 billion, rubber, US$1.27 billion, coffee worth US$1.1 billion.
These items fetch a total of $28.41 billion, accounting for 71.74 per cent of the country’s record year of $39.6 billion in exports.
In 2006, the United States still is Vietnam’s biggest export market with $8 billion, followed by the EU, $6.8 billion, ASEAN, $6.56 billion, Japan, $5.2 billion, and China with $3.2 billion.
According to the MoT, Vietnam is forecast to earn between $46-47 billion from exports next year.
