VNPT Records US$2.4Bln Revenue in 2006

Vietnam Posts and Telecom Group (VNPT) revenues reached VND38,329 billion (US$2.4 billion) in 2006, up 14.92 per cent on year, the group’s meeting reviewing activities in 2006 and unveiling plans for 2007 was told yesterday in Hanoi.
 
In 2006, VNPT signed up an additional 4.5 million telephone subscribers, up 30.54 per cent on year, including 1.22 million landline telephone subscribers and 3.28 million mobile phone users (1.6 million for VinaPhone network, up 52.8 per cent on year, and 1.65 million for MobiFone network, up 41.7 per cent on year).
 
The new figure raises the total VNPT telephone subscriber population to 17.86 million.
 
The largest Vietnamese post and telecom firm also added 151,000 MegaVNN internet subscribers in 2006, up 75 per cent on year, totaling 226,000 MegaVNN subscribers to date.
 
Pham Long Tan, acting president of VNPT Board of Directors, said at the meeting that VNPT will add more efforts to obtain even better results in 2007.
 
In 2007, VNPT targets to generate VND42.1 billion ($2.6 billion) revenues and attract an additional 6.54 million telephone subscribers and 500,000 MegaVNN internet subscribers.
 
This year, VNPT will also restructure to optimize its business operations in the new era, said VNPT’s CEO Vu Tuan Hung at the meeting. (VnMedia)
