Overseas Vietnamese to Increase Investment in Vietnam
Overseas Vietnamese will increase their investment in Vietnam in the time to come, Mr Tran Quang Hoan, Assistant of the Minister of Foreign Affairs cum Vice Chairman of Committee for Overseas Vietnamese said at a recent meeting in Hanoi to report on the proliferation of the “Homeland Spring” programme.
The “Homeland Spring” programme to welcome the Year of Pig will be hosted by the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Vietnam Television on February 9, 2007. The programme is forecast to attract the participation of 800-1,000 overseas Vietnamese. This is an open activity that all people can take part in. Hopefully, the investment by overseas Vietnamese will exceed overseas remittance they send to Vietnam yearly. In 2006, overseas Vietnamese invested US$1 billion in Vietnam.
