PM Okays EPC Contract for Expanded Uong Bi Power Plant

Vietnam Prime Minster Nguyen Tan Dung has given the green light to proposals by the Ministry of Industry to launch the Engineering-Procurement-Construction contract for Uong Bi expanded thermal power plant No2, state media reported.
 
Accordingly, Vietnam Construction and Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) and Electricity Group of Vietnam (EVN) are authorized to negotiate the EPC contract for the $344 million 300 megawatt capacity project.
 
If they are not successful, bidding will be opened to select another contractor to carry out the work.
 
The Uong Bi expanded thermal power plant No2 situated in the northern province of Quang Ninh, about 153 km northwest of Hanoi, once operational will help supply more electricity for the power hungry country to maintain high GDP growth rate. (The People)
