Improving Coastal City Environment
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and the World Bank (WB) on March 19 signed a US$125-million credit agreement for development and a US$4.6-million nonrefundable agreement for policy and human resource development. The money will be used to clean up the environment in the three coastal cities of Nha Trang, Quy Nhon and Dong Hoi.
Part of the loan was sourced by the International Development Association (IDA) which supports anti-poverty programmes in low-income countries, and open water and sewage drainage improvements. Apart from IDA funding, each city will receive US$2 million for the purchase of sanitary facilities at schools and the construction of toilets for households in these localities.
