An official delegation representing around 20 enterprises and Ho Chi Minh City started a visit to Italy March 27, to carry out a large-scale investment and trade promotion program.

The program will be co-organized by Italian Trade Office in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment, and the Center for Trade and Investment Promotion.

On this occasion, the two sides will hold Vietnam-Italy Business Forum on March 29 and 30, expected to attract over 100 Italian enterprises. This is a good opportunity for companies from Italy to explore the southern metro’s investment environment in areas of infrastructure construction, real estate, construction materials and others.

In 2004, Vietnam-Italy trade turnover reached US$679 million. Of the figure, the Southeast-Asian nation exported US$370 million of goods including footwear, garments and textiles, seafood, coffee, woodwork products, rubber, tourism products, handicrafts, pepper and cashew nut to the foreign market, while importing US$310 million worth of products from Italy.

Trade turnover between Vietnam and Italy saw annual increase of 25-30 per cent, surpassing the US$1.13 billion mark. (Youth)
