France, Germany, Australia Join Hands to BuildBridge in Vietnam
A joint venture of German Bilfinger Berger, Australian Baulderstone Hornibrook and French Freyssinet International et Companie and Arcadis, March 27 kicked off construction of Phu My suspension bridge, valued at VND2 trillion (US$125 million), over the Sai Gon River.
2,000m in length and 27.5m in width, Phu My Bridge will be a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) mode project and is expected to open to traffic in December 2009, said Earle Hardgrave, Project Director.
The bridge will be the largest of its kind in the southern Vietnam, noted Mac Dang Nop, Vice General Director of Project.
Once completed, the bridge will significantly boost socioeconomic development, especially trade and tourism, Nop added. (Thanh Nien Online)
