Nearly eight per cent of Vietnamese companies use e-transactions, with 55 per cent of them taking part in more than two systems, according to the E-commerce Department under the Ministry of Trade. Two years ago, hardly any Vietnamese companies registered for e-transaction portals.

In addition, 81.5 per cent of enterprises frequently use email to contact their partners. Websites and emails are priority tools as they require small investment but generate big benefits. Notably, email has become the most common means of communication in commercial activities. However, cash remains the most common payment means for up to 75 per cent of enterprises. Only 3.2 per cent accepted online payment. Most online payment accepters are in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
