Japan Firm Starts US$300Mln Electronics Factory Project
Leading Japanese circuitry manufacturer Meiko Electronics Co. Ltd. started work on a $300 million factory in northern Ha Tay Province last Friday April 20.
The new facility, located in Phung Xa Industrial Park some 50 kilometers from Hanoi, is to produce printed circuit boards and assemble electronics products.
The factory is scheduled to open in the third quarter next year. It is expected to employ some 7,000 laborers and generate annual turnover of $1.7 billion.
Established in 1975, Meiko Electronics is one of the world's leading manufacturers of printed circuitry, with 5 facilities in Japan, 1 in China and 5 representative offices in the US.
So far this year, Ha Tay has attracted over $1.4 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI). (Vietnam Economic Times, Thanh Nien Online)
