Inax Mulling More Factories in Vietnam
Inax Corp, Japan’s sanitary earthenware maker, plans to construct two additional sanitary-ware plants in Vietnam and another in China at a total cost of JPY5.3 billion (US$43.44 million), said the Inax's president Chikahisa Mizutani recently.
One of the two plants in Vietnam will be built in the Hanoi suburbs, the president noted, expecting it to produce 500 tons of washbowls and other products a month for local use and export to Japan.
The other plant will be set up near Ho Chi Minh City to make wall tiles at a monthly rate of 100,000 square meters.
Inax is now operating three sanitary-ware factories in Hanoi as part of the group’s plan to expand its manufacturing presence in Southeast Asia.
Inax has invested JPY1 billion ($8.3 million) into a wall-tile factory in the suburbs of Ho Chi Minh City. It is expected to begin operations in April 2008 and to produce 500,000 sq.m in the first year and 3 million sq.m in the following years.
As of end-June, Japan poured more than $8 billion into 819 projects in Vietnam, ranking the fourth among countries and territories investing here. (VNA)
