Vietnam Plans US$366Mln for Chromium, Manganum Exploitation to 2010
The Ministry of Industry of Vietnam has recently decided to invest VND5.86 trillion (US$366 million) into mining projects of chromium and manganum from now to 2015, a vision to 2025, state media reported Monday.
Of the figure, VND3.725 trillion will be pumped into chromium exploration and exploitation and the remaining for management.
The plan is expected to produce fireproof materials and additives for domestic metallurgy mills and for exports, along with environment protection and sustainable development.
The ministry will focus on upgrading key ore mining and processing plants including the Thai Nguyen iron alloy and the Ferocrom factory of Tan An Ltd,. Co in central Ninh Binh province.
Vietnam is estimated to have 25 million tons of chromium in reserve mainly located in central province of Thanh Hoa and 11.1 million tons of manganum scattered in northern mountainous provinces of Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang. (Vietnam & World Economy)
