Inax Corp, Japan’s leading sanitary-ware maker, will build a plant worth JPY2-3 billion (US$17-26 million) in Vietnam to meet the rising demand of regional market.

The plant, expected for start construction in 2008, will be Inax’s fifth facility in Vietnam, said Inax's president Chikahisa Mizutani, adding that the plant would churn out 1,000 tons of products each month. The products will be both for domestic sales and export, noted the president.

Inax’s three operational sanitary ware factories in Vietnam now contribute 50 per cent of the corporation’s products in Asia, he said. Inax has raised production capacity of Vietnam-based facilities and four others in China to a total of 3,000 tons/month from 2,000 tons/month whilst its Japan-based facilities are running at full capacity.

Earlier, Inax released its plans to construct two additional sanitary-ware plants in Vietnam and another in China at a total cost of JPY5.3 billion ($43.44 million). (Vietnam & World Economy)
