Mr Phung Dac Duong, Marketing Director of HP Vietnam, had an exchange talk with correspondents about the policies of HP and recommendations for enterprises in using IT products and solutions.
What do you think about the current implementation of IT solutions in Vietnamese small and medium enterprises?
In our experience, the difficulty of enterprises arises from the lack of concrete preparations in the initial days. Many are unwilling to pay fees for consultancy. The consultancy I mentioned is the professional business development one as all state-owned enterprises are currently doing to define their development in coming years. One of the core factors in consultancy is IT application orientation as it is an integral part of corporate development. If enterprises have master, concrete and detailed plans, they will bring in high efficiency and economy. Professional consultancy will have weigh on future development. Enterprises will have to pay dear prices if they invest as they temporarily need. For example, the change of email system (one of the two core communication tools in addition to telephone) will harm business operations when the company decides to use separate domains and all staff have to use new emails.

Does HP plan to reduce its product and service price in Vietnam?
Our goal is to help enterprises expand business, reduce minimise expenditures and minimise business risks.
We usually count total costs which include expending on hardware, applications, solutions, installations, maintenance, assistance and upgrading. We don’t separately count hardware then compare it with other markets. Thus, the ownership of a product in Vietnam is certainly cheaper than in other countries because the customer support service in Vietnam is cheaper.

Do you have any recommendations for enterprises?
According to our analysis, IT enables enterprises to earn more profit, increase customers, increase output and reduce costs. In HP’s experience, after synchronising database, the cost over revenue is reduced and this is also the way we want to help enterprises. Thus, enterprises need master plan and bravely invest, not try to keep the cost low and restrain the development.

Recently, HP Vietnam opened a ceremony in Hanoi to introduce products, solutions and services for medium-sized enterprises, namely HP BladeSystems c3000 server and HP Storage Works All-in-One SB600c Storage Blade storage. HP BladeSystem c3000 is sold at US$4,299, HP StorageWorks All-in-One SB600c is priced US$9,680 and HP Solution Blocks is varied according to the number of users or usage capacity.
