Vietnamese Firm to Build 3 Oil Tankers Totaling US$180 Mln in February
Dung Quat Cao Thanh Dong Shipbuilding Company will start to build three oil tankers worth a total of US$180 million in late February, said the firm general director.
The planned ships will has a loading capacity of 105,000 tons each, he attributed.
The hoped facilities are under a deal early clinched between the company and the Vietnam National Shipping Lines Corp (Vinalines).
The company has planned to launch a 104,000-ton ship, under a contract with Vinashin’s Ocean-going Transport Company.
Vinalines has targeted to build 19 seagoing cargo vessels this year.
It also expects to transport 27.3 million tons of commodities in 2008, up 9 per cent on year and handle 47.5 million tons via ports, up 5 per cent on year. (Youth)
